    Tragedy in Florida…

We all know that there are no words to adequately express our sorrow for the families in Florida and everyone connected nor are there words to explain “why” these tragic events occur. When something like this happens it is only natural for you to immediately show care and concern for our students in Prosper and our minds begin to race through every “what if” scenario. Please know that we share those concerns every day. We regularly conduct a variety of drills with our students and staff and we work diligently to investigate any hint of danger. These types of events often show precursors in social media, so all of us need to more closely monitor our children’s activity in all forms of social media. As a district, we regularly conduct security audits with ours and other local police departments along with homeland security officials. Although there will never be a 100% deterrent to such events, we will certainly be maximizing the visibility of our police officers and will continue to evaluate our protocols to best ensure the safety of our students and staff. Even though there is not a full proof answer, the answer will never be to “ignore". Our primary concern is for the safety of all and that will not be compromised. Please keep those in Florida most directly affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.

graphic that says GT Gifted and Talented (GT) Referrals for Students in Grades 1st – 11th

    Feb. 26th - March 8th

This referral process is for students who are not already identified. The Prosper ISD GT program is designed to provide motivating, challenging experiences that will nurture the unique academic and social-emotional needs of gifted and talented students. Students whose data indicate the advanced program services are the most appropriate educational setting will be recommended for the gifted and talented program. Students who are already identified and participating in our Prosper ISD Gifted and Talented program do not need to be referred. They will continue to receive GT services.

Students may be referred for GT testing once every two years. If your child was not referred for testing last year and you would like to refer him/her for GT placement consideration, the referral window for students in grades 1st – 11th is February 26 – March 8 at 3:00pm. Referrals must be completed through Infosnap. The link will be live beginning Monday, February 26, 2018 and will be posted on the Gifted and Talented referral webpage. Referrals must be completed by Thursday, March 8 at 3:00pm. Late referrals are not accepted. Click here for more info on GT Referrals
