In case you haven’t heard…

PISD Assistant Superintendent for Business & Operations, Dr. Mike Goddard, has been named the lone finalist for the superintendent job in Red Oak ISD. Selfishly, I wish Dr. Goddard would stay with Prosper forever, but he has been afforded a great opportunity to begin a new chapter in his leadership. The kids know him as my bodyguard (ha!), but he has been a great teammate and friend for the last seven years. Many will be sad about his departure – I choose to celebrate and simply be thankful for his time in Prosper.
Good luck Dr. G!!!

Local Students Qualify for Duke Gifted Program

Congratulations to the Rogers' and Reynolds' students that were invited to join the Duke University Talent Identification Program’s prestigious 7th Grade Talent Search.
Each year, Duke TIP identifies a group of academically talented students in the United States based on their exceptional grade-level standardized test scores. Only those who score at or above the 95th percentile qualify. Those students are invited to participate in the 7th Grade Talent Search and to take the ACT or SAT, which are designed for college-bound eleventh and twelfth graders. Taking an above-grade-level test is an experience that allows these gifted seventh graders to more accurately gauge their academic abilities and potential, as they need more advanced examinations than they find in their grade level.

Cole Turner and Kiel Couturier competed in the West Regional Championships on April 22nd on Lake Palestine. The weather and lake were both very unforgiving, but the boys battled and eventually figured out Lake Palestine’s stumpy, shallow north end. Their 5-fish limit weighed in at 14.25 pounds, with the biggest bass weighing 4.10 pounds. Their catch for the day qualified them for the State Championships, May 20-21, on Lake Ray Roberts. They also received trophies for their 4th place finish in the overall, Angler of the Year race. There were 365 teams in our very competitive West Division.
