School Funding Update...

The Texas Supreme Court has ruled that the state’s school funding system is lousy but legal. The court washed its hands of the problem and tossed it back to the Legislature, which has refused to do anything about it.

“Texas’s more than 5 million school children deserve better than serial litigation over an increasingly Daedalean ‘system,’” Justice Don Willett wrote for a unanimous Supreme Court. “They deserve transformational, top-to-bottom reforms that amount to more than Band-Aid on top of Band-Aid. They deserve a revamped, non-sclerotic system fit for the 21st century.”

The reality is that the legislature has done very little historically on the ongoing funding issue if not directed by the courts. This time the courts are basically saying we’re done – you all (the legislature) need to figure this out.

What does this mean for Prosper ISD? Well, that is literally the million dollar question all school districts are asking themselves across the state… and the answer is that NOBODY KNOWS!! We will continue to follow this issue closely and keep our community up to date as it pertains to PISD.

With that said, every day is still a great day to be an Eagle – we will forge ahead for the great families of Prosper!
